ABOUT US

We are a small cottage farm specializing in fiber from our flock of Longwool Romney sheep. The long pearly wool is either handspun, mill-spun (at a small women-owned mill in VT), or combed into batts or bumps. We breed our ewes with occasional registered lambs available to interested farmers looking to integrate new genetics or start a flock of their own :)

We try to source our goods and services as local as possible. Not only is sourcing local good for minimizing environmental impacts of transportation, but doing so also supports small businesses and artisans in your hometown.

A little more about me, my name is Haydee and I am the primary shepherd at Sheepy Hollow. I received my Ph.D in Natural Resource Management & Conservation in 2022 working on endangered plants in the tropics. Ecology and the natural world have always been an interest of mine - so have sheep!

Since I was very young I had a fascination with the idea of having a flock of wool sheep somewhere in a “cold” place (I grew up in southern Florida). Eventually I made my way to Ithaca which is a lovely community and place to raise sheep! I try my best to maintain a healthy flock and pasture by carefully planning the grazing rotations throughout the seasons.

My name is Paul and I am shepherd no.2 here on the farm. I am an attorney in the state of Florida and am currently working remotely. It has been fun learning the different personalities in our flock of sheep and getting to know each individual as we guide them through our pastures. We may not have originally known very much about farming, but the learning curve has been steep!
